Coldplay Back Again With New Album

Fans have waited three years for another record from the iconic band Coldplay, and on October 24th, 2011 they will get it. Coldplay will release their fifth album, Mylo Xyloto, next Tuesday with Capital Records and it promises to be their most ambitious yet. According to an article by Josh Eells on RollingStone.com, Mylo Xyloto has bigger choruses, grander textures, and even “the optimism [is] more optimistic.” Lead singer Chris Martin explains that Coldplay drew inspiration for Mylo Xyloto from 1970s graffiti in New York as well as from the Nazi-resistance movement. Both movements share the common thread of embracing art during tumultuous times.

In their own way, Coldplay successfully achieves a lovable lyrical rage with pleasantly subtle political undertones, or at least suggestive political undertones. For example, in “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” Martin playfully sings about a revolution fueled by dancing kids. Undoubtedly, Coldplay does a great job of providing passionate and believable lyrics, and sends listeners into an uplifted mood after listening to Mylo Xyloto. Whether you’ve been a fan all along, or you’ve only just begun listening to Coldplay, their fifth album, Mylo Xyloto, should stand up to be a winner.
